Step one

Testing &assessment

Bulk sampling of fire-damaged roofing, siding, flooring, insulation and pipe wrap, analyzed by an accredited lab.

Testing of painted surfaces, ash and soil for lead contamination by CDPH-certified inspectors.

Sampling to identify heavy metals and other contaminants left by burned structures, vehicles and household materials.

Step two

Removal of asbestos-containing debris by trained, registered crews (CA DOSH #1090).

Identification and removal of propane tanks, batteries, fuels, pool chemicals and other hazardous items, with DOT-certified hazmat transport.

Debris and ash removal handled to keep contamination from spreading to neighboring properties.

Excavation of contaminated soil where sampling shows it is needed.

Step three

Site-specific work plans prepared and submitted to the county before work starts.

Post-cleanup sampling to show the site meets clearance standards.

Coordination with local agencies until the property is formally cleared.
