Fire debrisremoval

Clearing a burned property isn't just hauling. Hazardous materials come out first, the county wants a plan, and the lot isn't done until it's cleared.

What it involves

More thana dumpster

After a structure fire, what's left on the lot is regulated waste. Burned roofing, siding and flooring can contain asbestos. Painted surfaces can leave lead in the ash. Propane tanks, batteries, fuels and pool chemicals are household hazardous waste. None of that can go in a debris load until it has been identified and removed properly.

Alliance handles fire debris removal in the right order: hazardous materials first, then burned debris and ash, then any contaminated soil, followed by confirmation sampling so the county can clear the property for rebuilding.

01

Hazmat removal first

Asbestos-containing materials and household hazardous waste are identified and removed before general debris, by CA DOSH-registered crews.

02

Debris & ash

Burned structure debris and ash removed with dust control, so contamination doesn't drift onto neighbors.

03

Soil & clearance

Contaminated soil excavated where testing shows it, then confirmation sampling and agency sign-off.

Private debris removal

Working withyour county

Many California counties let owners use a private, qualified contractor for debris removal instead of a government program, but require a work plan up front and documentation at the end. Requirements vary by county, so the first step is always finding out exactly what yours wants.

Alliance prepares and submits the work plan, performs the testing the county requires, completes the removal, and provides the disposal records and sampling results the agency needs to sign off. You deal with one contractor instead of coordinating four.

Questions

Fire Debris RemovalFAQ

Can I use a private contractor instead of a government debris program?

In many California counties, yes, as long as the contractor follows an approved work plan and provides the required documentation. Rules differ by county, so we confirm your county's requirements during the free assessment.

Why does hazardous material have to come out first?

Mixing asbestos, lead-contaminated ash or household hazardous waste into general debris spreads contamination, creates disposal problems and can stall county clearance.

Do you handle the paperwork?

Yes. We prepare the work plan, keep disposal and sampling records, and provide the documentation the county needs to clear the property.

Will insurance cover debris removal?

Many homeowner policies include debris-removal coverage. We provide itemized documentation of testing and removal that adjusters can use; check your policy for specifics.
