Asbestos testingafter a fire
Fire breaks down building materials and can release asbestos fibers into debris and ash. Testing tells you what's there before anyone starts moving it.
DOSH
Fire releaseswhat was sealed
Asbestos was used in roofing, siding, flooring, joint compound, insulation and pipe wrap for decades, especially in homes and buildings built before the 1980s. Intact, it's relatively stable. Burned and broken, it can release fibers into debris and ash that become airborne when the site is disturbed.
That's why asbestos testing comes before debris removal on a fire-damaged property, and why counties typically want to see that hazardous materials were identified and handled properly before they clear a lot.
Bulk sampling
Samples of suspect roofing, siding, flooring, insulation and pipe wrap from the debris field.
Accredited lab analysis
Samples analyzed by an accredited laboratory, so results hold up to agency review.
Clear report
A plain-English summary of what was found, where, and what it means for cleanup.
Registered &certified
Alliance has held CA DOSH Asbestos Registration #1090 and works under Certified Asbestos Consultant oversight. Crews are OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER trained and work under a NIOSH-approved respirator program.
If testing finds asbestos, the same team can remove it, so you aren't starting over with a new contractor between testing and cleanup.
From sampleto clearance
Site walk
We identify suspect materials across the debris field and any standing structures.
Sampling
Samples are collected safely and documented by location.
Lab analysis
An accredited lab analyzes each sample.
Results & plan
You get the results and a recommended removal scope.
Abatement
If needed, our registered crews remove the asbestos before debris removal begins.
Asbestos Testing After a FireFAQ
Does every burned house have asbestos?
No, but many buildings constructed before the 1980s contain asbestos somewhere. Testing is the only way to know, and it's usually required before debris removal.
Can I test it myself?
Disturbing suspect material without training and protection can release fibers. Sampling should be done by trained, certified professionals, and results need to come from an accredited lab.
How long do results take?
Turnaround depends on the lab and sample count. We'll give you a timeline during the assessment.
What happens if asbestos is found?
It has to be removed by a registered abatement contractor before general debris removal. Alliance can handle that removal directly.
